I have always been intrigued by abstract paintings, but it was with the purchase of some macro equipment that I discovered the joys of this style in photography.
Now as it happens only one of the abstract images presented here are macro shots, my current desire for abstract images is that they should only just be over the threshold of the subject matter being immediately recognisable. With macro shots tending to provide a window on a world we don't normally deal with in detail, I find that this presents an additional barrier to comprehension that pushes away the moment of "Ah, that's what it is!" to the point that the images lose the impact I am looking for.
So here then are mostly images taken at standard and telephoto focal lengths with framing chosen to make the subjects flip into the realm of abstract ...
